Barbara Greenberg, 61, died on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, in Danville. Although she lived longer there than she lived anywhere else, she never considered herself from there. She remained a lifelong New Yorker.

Barbara reinvented herself throughout her life. She worked as a clothing store manager for several Chicago companies, as a DACC instructor, as an elementary school teacher and as a newspaper reporter/columnist. She remained an innovator no matter what her job.

Barbara cherished her daughters, Julia and Kate. She nurtured them through what seemed like insurmountable obstacles during each of their childhoods. She supported them 100 percent in their dreams and ambitions. She delighted in their successes and lived along with them during their struggles. Barbara felt real happiness only in their company.

She is also survived by her mother, Mary Rose, and two sisters, Beth and Victoria. Barbara was cremated at her request.
